John and Ann Murray moved from London to Yate to try and make a better life for themselves and their two children,
Mandy and Ian.
The opportunity arose because a Bristol hire company
wanted John to work for them, and employed Ann to do
the Accounts.
As time went on we both thought, why not try going into Business for ourselves, with the experience that we both had, many years in London and Bristol, lets go for it, and thats how Murray Hire Centres was formed nineteen years ago.
Our first Unit was on the Beeches Trading Estate off Stover Road, Yate, where we formed a nice liason with our customers, and soon got our regulars coming in for a chat and a cup of coffee. As well any friendly advice they asked for about any job, big or small.
Everyone is welcome, accounts or D.I.Y's, we are only too happy to help out.
About eight years on, we found that we were running out of space, so we had to make the decision to get bigger premises, we were able to purchase a piece of land on Armstrong Way,Yate on which to build a Unit . Unfortunately, it was another two years before we got the planning permission we desperately needed, but big celebrations when we got it.
Our Business is a family concern employing son Ian, daughter Mandy, son-in-law Keith and daughter-in-law Elaine,who ,with the good and hard working members of staff keep it all going. Working together to keep a happy, friendly and helpful team. Making it one big happy family.
